Pruning Old Fruit Trees Workshop & Retreat

NOW SOLD OUT!

Learn how to renovate mature fruit trees, revitalise their health and increase productivity.

Improve your fruit tree pruning skills with our training course and retreat.

The course is delivered by Your Garden Coach, Becca Mann at IDMWYD permaculture community in Llandielo

15th - 18th February, Llandeilo

On this workshop you will receive hands-on training in our mature orchard that demystifies those gardening book diagrams.

Find out how to save old, neglected and unproductive trees, protecting them from disease and increasing their life-span.

During your stay you will receive your own designated tree to work on, giving you plenty of opportunity to put your new pruning techniques into practice.

By the end of the course you will know all the skills needed to create shapely, healthy and productive trees!

Many of the skills you learn will be transferable to all types of trees of any age, including newly planted trees and shrubs.

The course takes place at a historic 14th-century 70 acre estate on the edge of the Brecon Beacons.

Enjoy our expansive grounds with unusual trees, chickens, river and walled garden, great hall, open fires, chill out areas and more.

Who's the course for?

The course caters to both experienced gardeners and newcomers. It is ideal for gardeners, people who have old fruit trees in their gardens, tree surgeons and anyone involved or interested in the care of fruit trees, shrubs and orchards.

Participants should be physically capable and willing to work outdoors as the weekend has an emphasis on hands-on training. The use of ladders for taller trees is likely, but some smaller trees can be managed without leaving the ground.

Will there be food?

Yes! All food is included in the cost of this course (with or without accommodation). We have a resident chef who cooks insanely tasty meals with local, in-season produce.

Meals are served in the kitchen of the old monastery from Thursday through to Sunday, closing the weekend with a traditional Sunday Roast.

There will be meat, vegetarian and vegan options available, please let us know your dietary requirements upon purchasing your ticket for the course.

Accommodation options

There are various accommodation options including staying in the cottage, main house, or bringing your own live-in vehicle. There is also a ‘no accommodation’ option for those local or wishing to stay nearby.

Whatever accommodation option you choose, during your visit you will be free to enjoy our expansive estate and gardens during your visit.
